The Countdown Continues and so do the Giveaways

Just eighteen days and counting until the book of my heart, In a Far-Off Land, is out in the world. I can’t believe it! I started writing this book almost five years ago after a trip to California during which I had a crazy dream about a girl running away from a Hollywood mansion murder scene in a green dress. From that, came the story of Mina, Oscar, and Max. I hope you like it!

To make the weeks go faster, let’s give away a book by another one of my favorite authors, Sandra Byrd. I’ve known Sandra since waaay back at the beginning of my writing career, plus she’s a Washington State gal, which is always a plus. Sandra was kind enough to read an early copy of In A Far-Off Land and wrote this beautiful endorsement:

In a Far-Off Land – an engaging story set in a fresh era – deftly threads themes from the Biblical Story of the Lost Son through the burlap of the Great Depression and Hollywood’s silk. In every age, a distant glitter promising fame, fortune, and self-indulgence tempt us to trade in the gold of family, contentment, and conscience. Thankfully, there is always a way back, as the talented Ms. Landsem shows us, to a happy ending provided through grace. — Sandra Byrd, author of Lady of a Thousand Treasures

This week, I’m giving away a copy of her latest historical fiction release, Lady of A Thousand Treasures. Isn’t this a beautiful cover? Sandra has a long list of great books including historical fiction, non-fiction, and contemporary. Check them out on her website here. I love Sandra’s books for the complex characters, intricate plotting, and gorgeous descriptions. You will not be disappointed with anything she writes.

Miss Eleanor Sheffield is a talented evaluator of antiquities, trained to know the difference between a genuine artifact and a fraud. But with her father’s passing and her uncle’s decline into dementia, the family business is at risk. In the Victorian era, unmarried Eleanor cannot run Sheffield Brothers alone. As pressures mount and time runs out, Eleanor must decide whom she can trust―who in her life is false or true, brass or gold―and what is meant to be treasured.

This week, I’m doing an Instagram giveaway! To win a copy (paperback or e-book) of Lady of A Thousand Treasures, go to this Insta post and tell me your go-to comfort movie or tv show. It can be a classic or something new–whatever it is you can watch over and over. If you don’t have an Instagram, tell me in the comments below to be entered for the giveaway.

  1. I could watch Steel Magnolias over and over again. My Daddy’s old pickup is at the beginning and my aunt and cousin were in the wedding dancing scene. I love the small community where it was filmed. My Dad still lives nearby adjacent to my grandmothers family home place. Sorry I don’t have Insta.

    1. That’s so cool that you have a personal connection to the movie. It’s a good one! My mom and I were extras in War Games in the early 80s, it was fun but our parts got cut!

  2. One of my favorite, watch it anytime, TV shows is Call The Midwife. It’s a comforting, uplifting show. Thank you for the chance to win!
