Are You Ready to Walk In Her Sandals?
“What if you could have been a witness to the events of the last days of Jesus’ life–walking with him as he entered Jerusalem, observing his crucifixion, and embracing him on Easter? What would you have thought and done? How would you have been changed?”
Today is the release day for Walk In Her Sandals, Experiencing Christ’s Passion through the Eyes of Women, a book inspired by the Holy Spirit, written by women, for women, and about women. It’s a book club book, a personal devotional, a scripture study, and a creative way to enter into scripture. It was a joy and a privilege to work with so many talented, prayerful, and downright amazing women on this book.
But the real blessing was seeing how the Holy Spirit took each of our individual strengths and talents and wove them together to create something infinitely greater than the sum of its parts!
Let me tell you a little about this book that is perfect for a book club, personal devotion, scripture study, and meditation.
Each of the six chapters of Walk In Her Sandals centers on one day in Jerusalem: Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost. Here’s a look at what each chapter contains:
First, Sarah Christmyer reveals the riches of the scripture that corresponds with the day in Jerusalem in Entering the Scripture.
In the second section, Walk In Her Sandals, I introduce you to a woman in Jerusalem encountering Jesus. We will meet Anah, Huldah, Miriam, Veronica, and Zilpah. Each woman has her own gifts and her own sorrows. Each will be changed by her encounter with Jesus.
The third section is Unwrapping the Gift, where Pat Gohn invites us to nurture and understand our unique feminine gifts.
Next, Reflections give us insight, encouragement and inspiration from women’s personal stories.
Lectio and Meditatio encourage women to a prayerful reading of the scripture and a guided meditation to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus.
The chapter ends with Questions for Group Discussion and practical suggestions for growing in your spiritual life.
